How well would your car run if you
used it on a daily basis and never checked the water, changed the oil or put air
in the tyres? Yet you'd expect that when you turned the key in the
ignition, your car would just start and off you'd go.
Like your car, your computer needs regular maintenance if you want it to
perform efficiently, day after day. Dust will start to accumulate inside
your PC, websites will leave a trail of unnecessary files taking up valuable
space and power surges can even physically degrade components like your
computer's memory.
Our computer tune-ups are designed with three aims:
Restore your computer's performance - by removing nasties and
optimising files
Secure your computer - with the latest updates from Microsoft
(that you
are licensed for)
Prevent the same problems from recurring - by arming you with tools
and information to perform your own regular maintenance, so you don't need to
call us again for the same problem!
To save you time and money, all computer tune-ups are performed back in our
workshop. This offers you the following
additional benefits at no extra cost:
• Peace of mind knowing
that your important files are protected as all computers are 'backed up' as soon as
they come through the workshop door.
• We'll use our high speed internet (not your download quota) to download
critical updates to Microsoft software and other programs .
• You pay only for the time we physically 'touch' your computer (e.g. to
initiate a scan or analyse results). You're not paying for us to sit there
and watch the scans running.
• We'll pick up your computer, return it to you after the tune-up, plug everything back in again and show you
that it works and we won't charge you an additional call out fee for the return
visit.
If you run a business or have a deadline that means you can't be without your
computer, just talk to us. We can arrange to service your computer
after-hours or over a
weekend (at a slight extra cost) or we may be able to provide you with a 'loan' computer
until yours is back up and running again.
But what If
a Tune-Up doesn't work?
Unfortunately there are some pretty sneaky viruses out there, some of which can
damage your computer software beyond repair. In these cases,
complete re-installation of your computer software may be required, including
Windows and any other programs that you use. In essence, this takes the
computer back to a 'clean slate' again, with only the information on it that you
want. And we take special care to ensure that your personal files (music,
digital photos etc) are retained.
Your computer has been set up to work with your printer, your internet
connection and your email account. If your computer software has to be
re-installed, these kind of personalised settings will disappear. Whilst
some other companies just re-install Windows and leave you to do the rest, we're
committed to making sure your settings match what you had as closely as

NOTE: If software re-installation is required, you will need to provide your
original software installation CDs and any licensing information or serial
numbers. To protect you from software piracy, we will only install legally

If it's that bad, should I just buy a new computer?
You work hard for your money, so we're committed to providing you with the
most cost-effective solution. If, during our tune-up, we find that some of
your computer components are damaged, we will contact you immediately and
discuss the options for repair or replacement. With some older computers,
it's not cost-effective to repair them when you can get a new, faster system
with a warranty. We'll let you know if you'd be better spending your money
on a new computer and for your convenience we can even provide you with an
obligation-free quote.
